The world's first proven antimicrobial PVC uses silver ion technology and is impregnated into the material at the time of manufacture. This helps stop the growth of bacteria and mould and works continuously for the lifetime of the product, reducing levels of bacteria such as MRSA, E Coli, Legionella, Salmonella and mould by up to 99.99%. Silver ion technology is a safe, natural antimicrobial that is added at the point of material manufacture ensuring it is present throughout our virgin PVC material. Silver ions are added to Angloplas product material at the manufacturing stage, resulting in an active concentration of silver ions on the surface of the product. When bacteria come into contact with this surface, the silver binds to the bacteria and catalyzes an enzyme breakdown in the bacteria, rendering them unable to reproduce and further causing them to die. How Does Silver Work? Silver ions are added to our virgin material at the time of manufacture. These silver ions then concentrate on the surface of the product and are continually released to act against bacteria contaminating the product. They do this by passing through the bacterial cell wall and accumulating inside the cell where they damage it in a number of ways;
